Gannon’s Blake, Bennett, Blazek named top Gannon athletes

Nettie Blake, Robbie Bennett and Adam Blazek earned top honors at Gannon’s annual student-athlete awards banquet last week.

Blake, a senior center on the Knights’ basketball team, was named Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Soccer standout Robbie Bennett and basketball star Adam Blazek, a Cathedral Prep graduate, claimed the Co-Male Student-Athlete of the Year awards.

Blake finished her career third all-time at Gannon in rebounds (1.029), third in free throws made (372), sixth in points (1,536), seventh in field goals (582), ninth in blocked shots (88) and 10th in field goal percentage (.509). She averaged 13.4 points and 10.7 rebounds this past season, earning All-PSAC first-team honors for the second straight season.

Bennett, a senior forward, led Gannon in goals, assists, points and game-winning goals this season. The two-time All-American finished his career sixth all-time at Gannon in career points (111) and career goals (47).

Blazek, a senior guard and three-time All-American, averaged 14.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals this season. He ranked first in the PSAC in steals per game. He ranks fourth all-time at Gannon in 3-pointers (190), seventh in assists (373) and seventh in points (1,550).
