
Chris Cvecko
McDowell graduate Chris Cvecko has been a difference-maker early this season for the Case Western Reserve men’s soccer team.
The junior midfielder scored winning goals in back-to-back games recently. Cvecko, a Region 6 first-team all-star as a senior at McDowell, scored in the 50th minute to lead the Spartans to a 1-0 victory against Baldwin Wallace on Sept. 10.
He followed that with what proved to be the deciding score in the Spartans’ 2-1 win over Capital on Sunday. Cvecko scored CWRU’s second goal of the first half on a penalty kick. The fourth straight win helped the Spartans improve to 4-1-1 heading into Tuesday’s game at John Carroll.
Cvecko has two goals and two assists through six games this season. Last year, he was named the team’s MVP and earned All-University Athletic Associatioin first-team honors as well as OCSA All-Ohio third-team accolades.Cvecko had seven goals and seven assists as a sophomore.
He has 33 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in his career.
